Quotes and Pictures: The Art Show

The Hawthorne High School Art Show was on Thursday, May 21 in the HHS courtyard. Clarion Reporters interviewed a few students to get their opinions on the feature pieces, art, and art class.

First up was senior Shamel Dishack.

Clarion Reporter: “What do you think of the art show?”

Shamel Dishack: “All is can tell you about the art show is that it’s fantastic and I hope whoever is involved in this process is rewarded.”

Clarion Reporters asked Davius Bunch what his favorite thing about the art show was.

Davius Bunch: “I just like seeing the school’s talent. You don’t even know peoples’ talents until you’ve seen what they’ve done. For example, Larisa Isaac’s work looks like it belongs in a museum.”

Next up was senior Andy Palmeri.

Clarion Reporter: “What has been the best part about being in Ms. Russo’s art class?”

Andy Palmeri: “Her support really helps a lot. Ms. Russo teaching and being there to help you with any project that you do is a huge part of the art department’s success. She will always give tips on how to make something better.”

Clarion Reporter: “What is your favorite piece that you have drawn?”

Andy Palmeri: “My favorite piece that I have drawn would be the elephant in the blue pen. It took me maybe three or four weeks to do, but I think it’s my best work so far.”

Afterward, we asked sophomore Gio Occhipinti a few questions.

Clarion Reporter: “What’s your favorite thing about art?”

Gio Occhipinti:”My favorite thing about art is that every person can make it their own. Like if you want to paint a banana or paint an elephant, you can. Individuality: that’s beautiful art”

Last, but not least, we interviewed sophomore Jack Hines.

Clarion Reporter: “What’s your favorite thing about the art show?”

Jack Hines: “I think all the amazing pieces by the wonderful students of HHS. I’m so happy about the talent that we have here and I’m excited to come back later in the day so see everything again.”
