The Hawthorne High School Spanish classes went to a Spanish restaurant, Noches De Colombia, in Clifton, New Jersey, on Friday January 8, 2016.  Spanish teacher Mrs. Rocio Martinez was excited about the success of the field trip. “The kids had a blast at the restaurant; they danced and tasted different kinds of Latin food such as tostones, yucca, chicharrón, maduros, and rice and beans.

At the restaurant, the students also watched professional dancers from the dance studio Baila Conmigo (Dance with Me).  The professional dancers brought all the students up on the floor to learn how to do Latin dances such as the bachata and merengue, the tango, and the salsa.

All the students and the teachers that went on the trip would love to do it again next year.  “It was so much fun,” said Vanessa Pena. “I had a good time when the dancers taught us some of their moves.” Lauren Rivera agreed saying, “The dancing was amazing and very well executed. The food was also delicious.”
