Senior Girl Scouts Donates to the Center of Hope and Safety

Leah Rosado, Editor

During the month of September, Girl Scout Troop 96921 began their journey working on their Sisterhood project. Troop leaders Tania Sanford and Donna Berardi-Fanetti and Girl scout members Francesca Fanetti, Jessica Sanford, Gabby Van Sickle, Skyler Russo-Wilson, Kayla Gurriel, and Leah Rosado put up flyers collecting donations for the Center of Hope and Safety.

As a Girl Scout it is their responsibility to take care of one another and help each other as much as they possibly can. When the idea of helping the Center of Hope and Safety came about they worked real hard getting donations. The Center of Hope and Safety is a non profit organization that helps the victims and their children of domestic violence get out of fear and into safety. They provide safe living spaces for the mothers and their children.

The Girl Scouts collected gift cards, toiletries, new clothes, office supplies, baby items, sleepwear and everything in between. On September 20, they gathered the donations and headed toward the Center of Hope and Safety. All involved had  a great feeling while helping those in need. Domestic violence is not something that should be taken lightly, it is a crime. Every day around four women die as a result of domestic violence. It is the leading cause of injury in women of all races and religion in the United States.

Donations are always gladly accepted online at www.hopeandsafetynj.org.
