National Hispanic Scholar Saul Hernandez

Saul Hernandez of Hawthorne High School has been recognized as a National Hispanic Scholar through the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program. Every year, the NHRP recognizes about 5,000 of the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors who take the PSAT.

Saul’s scores of 680 in Reading/Writing and 660 in Math place him among this select group. “As a Hispanic,” says Saul, “I am honored to receive this award. I think that too often minorities count themselves out academically, thinking that they don’t have the chance to do things that others do. But I’m really happy to be an example of what anyone can achieve through hard work.”

Saul is now in the process of applying to colleges including the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University.
