My Instant Decision Experience

Melissa Bilbao, Staff Writer

An admissions counselor from Fairleigh Dickinson University was here at Hawthorne High School to admit or deny students’ applications to the University, all on the same day. As an applicant, I was told that I had this opportunity. Although I was unsure if I would be accepted or not, I hoped that I would finally get to see if all of my efforts, accomplishments, and struggles in high school were going to pay off.

I went in and waited five minutes or so until I was called into the conference room. I was not extremely nervous, but I wanted to make a good impression.

Before the admissions counselor told me if I was accepted or not, she explained to me what Fairleigh has to offer. She went over room and boarding, extracurricular activities, and studying abroad. Besides going over general information, she asked me more in depth, personal questions.

After about 10 minutes or so she finally concluded with, “Congratulations, you have been accepted to Fairleigh Dickinson University!”

I was so happy to hear that I was accepted into FDU and had a great first college acceptance experience.
