Faculty Favorites: Mr. Schell

Mr. Gus Schell’s favorite movie is Armageddon. The movie was released in 1998 and was a big hit with both film audiences and critics. The film is about a group of rag-tag group of deep-core drillers who are sent by NASA to stop a giant asteroid that is heading toward earth.

Mr. Schell’s favorite characters from the film were Ben Affleck’s character of A.J. Frost and co-star Bruce Willis’ character of Harry Stamper. His favorite line from the film comes at the very end of the movie, when the character of Grace Stamper (played by Liv Tyler) is told by a member of NASA, “Permission to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I’ve ever met.”

Mr. Schell chose this movie as his favorite because he feels that Armageddon is a movie that both guys and girls could enjoy together. He feels that it is a great combination of “chick flick” and “action guy flick” all rolled up into one terrific film.
