Jason Goldstein: New Teacher and Assistant Lacrosse Coach

Science teacher and assistant lacrosse coach, Jason Goldstein, joined Hawthorne High School’s faculty during the 2012-2013 school year.

Goldstein currently teaches chemistry, and for the 2013-2014 year he expects to teach physics, chemistry, and the new elective astrochemistry.  When asked about his experience at HHS, Goldstein stated, “The students are well-behaved… [and] the teachers and administrators are nice.” Before coming to HHS, Goldstein taught at Rahway High School.

Goldstein didn’t always want to be a teacher, however. His major was originally undecided until his sophomore year of college when he chose a major in chemistry with an emphasis on education. Golstein minored in physics.

When asked about his other passion at HHS, the lacrosse team, Goldstein laughed and answered that he is optimistic and has high hopes for the sport’s first season. He said, “Ideally, I would love to be five and five.” (This means he is hoping for an even number of wins and losses for the team’s first season.) Goldstein also mentioned that the members of the lacrosse team “pride [themselves] on being academically rounded” and respectful as well.

Hawthorne High is proud to have such a young and enthusiastic teacher, both in the classroom and on the field.
