Recognizing a male and female County Athlete of the Year has been a tradition of the Passaic County Coaches Association since the 1973-74 school year. Ramos qualified for consideration by meeting the Association’s three levels of criteria that are evaluated by a committee of men and women not associated with Passaic County coaches. The honoree must: 1) manifest the highest degree of athletic prowess, academic achievement and sportsmanship, and 2) participate in two varsity sports in the senior year and receive two first team all-county awards during his athletic career and one all-league award in a second sport.
The 2013 Male Athlete of the Year for Passaic County trophy will be on display outside the main office at Hawthorne High School throughout the upcoming year honoring Ramos and his accomplishments.
