ALL-STAR: TOMMY WALLS

Senior Tom Walls

“Being a senior on the team feels great because we are finally the leaders, and after four years of being underclassmen, it’s good to be in charge,” says Tommy Walls, quarterback and middle linebacker for the Bears. Walls has been playing football for ten years with the same group of boys he is now on the field with today. He says being with the same group gives the team an advantage because they all know how each one plays and can work together and improve by learning from one another. Walls says he wouldn’t trade his team for any other group of boys.

When asked, “Who was your biggest inspiration? Who motivated you to play football many years ago?” Walls said it was his father. “He taught me to love the game and did a great job at doing that.” Tommy’s post-high school plans are to play football for a small school, but he is still undecided about what school that will be.

Wherever Walls decides to go after Hawthorne High School, there’s no doubt he will be successful. In addition to football, Walls in active in many other high school activities. He is on the varsity baseball team and is a member of the National Honors Society, S.H.A.R.E.  and Library Crew.

Walls says, “A great player is one who works hard on every play without taking plays off while still staying positive on and off the field.” This attitude shows exactly who Tommy Walls is. The Clarion staff wishes Tommy and all the Bears good luck this season.
