I READ! That’s the message proclaimed out loud at Hawthorne High School during this second semester. To promote the joy of leisure reading, the hallways are decorated with large posters featuring administrators, faculty and students reading their favorite books while announcing “I Read!” The posters, designed and created by Media Arts students, are intended to encourage and inspire the high school community to visit the Library Media Center to take out a book. Once in the library, patrons will find that the poster images have been made into small, laminated bookmarks and paired with the book highlighted in the poster.

The I READ! campaign will continue throughout the school year and end with a school-wide celebration of books, learning, and reading fun—all advocating the value of books and encouraging reading among students and staff in a fun, accessible way.
