Poems on Glass, Poems on Pavement, Poems in Surprising Places! In celebration of National Poetry Month in April, the Creative Writing Club sponsored its annual Poetry Day. Students arrived at school to find poems decorating all hallways; there were also poem scrolls hidden throughout the building for students and teachers to find. All lunch trays were lined with poems, and paper “fortune tellers” let students play with origami games to find a poem. Lunchtime activities included writing poems on the windows of the library and writing poems on the concrete in the courtyard. Students who found poems and returned them to the library earned a raffle ticket for the Hawthorne Theater ticket drawing.
