The fall pep rally on Friday, September 11th, 2015, was a great success. Students were covered from head-to-toe in blue and white with Hawthorne apparel, team jerseys, face paint and much more. The pep rally was hosted by the student council. The principal of HHS, Mr. LaGrone, spoke at the pep rally along with students Leah Matari, president of the student council, and Liam Morrissey, vice-president of the student council. Celebrating the football, soccer, volleyball and tennis teams, the Bears showed their school spirit. As a tradition, the captains of each team announced each athlete and the individuals had their time to shine.

Dakota Brantner, sophomore, said, “It was upbeat and lively. It was great to see the school come together and act as one big family”. The band and the cheerleaders pumped up the crowd and added a new level of excitement along with, senior, Iliyana Serrano, who sang the National Anthem. Each class made posters representing their grade, covering the gym walls with their Hawthorne pride. The freshman put on an impressive display of school spirit. After asking senior, Erika La Monaca about her experience at her last pep rally, she stated, “My last pep rally was so exciting because I got to spend one last time showing my Hawthorne spirit with my friends and peers”. Go Bears!
