Marching Band: Senior Night Tradition

Kelly Nelson, Staff Writer

On November 4, 2016 the Hawthorne High School marching band was gearing up for their final home game of the season.

More importantly, it was the Class of 2017 Senior Night. Unlike other organizations, the HHS marching band starts their Senior Night roughly two hours before the game starts in the band room.

The tradition is to start the night off with a video made by the drum majors showing  the seniors  as freshman, and right up to where they are now. Next comes along the “Senior Speeches” which are written by members of the band who are assigned to write about a specific senior.

After the speeches are read, photos are taken, there is food offered by the band staff. This is a tradition that the seniors will always cherish and remember.
