About
The Hawthorne High School newspaper, The Clarion, was first published in 1935. It has come a long way since then, varying in appearance and content as it records the history of HHS. Now, as times change, The Clarion has added an online edition to offer up-to-date, real-time news for our school community and the wider world.
The goal of The Clarion is to inform the student body, faculty, administration, Board of Education members, and residents about what is going on at HHS. To do this, the staff of the Journalism classes and the Journalism Club spend hours researching, interviewing, and writing articles. Editorial teams prepare news articles for both the web and print issues of The Clarion.
The Managing Editor of the school newspaper and the Journalism classes is faculty member Sean Van Winkle, an English teacher at HHS.
