The Nightingale Effect, a heavy metal student band that includes students from Hawthorne High School, is making music and having fun.
The Nightingale Effect, a band just over a year old, consists of four members: Billy Welsh, Eric Nickl, Daniel Esposito, and Christian Cordero. They named the band The Nightingale Effect after Florence Nightingale, a nurse who would fall in love with her patient making the Florence Nightingale Effect. Each member adds his own talent to the band with Welsh on the bass guitar, Nickl (a current Hawthorne High School student) on the drums, Cordero on the guitar, and Esposito as the lead vocals. Although the band performs cover songs, they have also made up their own album, The Nightingale Effect. Some songs that have been recorded onto their album are “On and On,” “Blame the Radio,” “Alone,” and “Coming Home.”
Many musicians, especially The Beatles, influenced The Nightingale Effect’s original music. They have never recorded professionally, but have hopes that in the future they can. As of now, their recorded work was recorded in Nickl’s garage. However, Nickl stated that they once had the opportunity to record at Ramapo College with help from a friend.
Although they do not have a big fan base, the members of The Nightingal Effect consider making music a fun hobby to do as friends. When asked do you believe the band is successful Nickl responded, “In our minds, we believe we are.”
