2015 Color of the Year

With the new season approaching another color has been named the 2015 color of the year!  It’s flying off the shelves and it can be found on everything from hats to backpacks to scarves.  What is this new found obsession? Well it’s Marsala of course!  Marsala has wiggled its way into all of our lives.  Stores and name brands are taking part in the Marsala take over including Pink, Nike, and American Eagle.

Pink has filled its rack with Marsala leggings and sweatshirts, while Nike has filled its boxes with marsala sneakers and socks! Now it’s impossible to find a person not wearing Marsala! The deep red brown tint has found its way into our hearts and crammed into every inch of our closet.  It’s even conquered the models in the New York Fashion Week!

On wsj.com, Christina Brinkley explained that Marsala has made its mark as it struts down the runway. She says, “This is a color we haven’t seen much of until now, but it’s a major look this year. An intriguing deep marsala that is flattering to almost any skin tone was on runways at Sophie Theallet, Alexander Wang, Derek Lam, and Tommy Hilfiger.” Every fashion designer has found a way to incorporate Marsala into their lines.  With the upcoming fall season, we can expect to see Marsala in many new forms! This color has truly changed the world in many ways beside just the fashion industry.  As we sit here with a heart of Marsala, we can only imagine what color we will obsess over next.
