The Jersey Devil

The Jersey Devil

Liam Duffy, Staff Writer

Most people know about the devil and of the other kinds of demons that may or may not exist in our world. In stories these supernatural creatures have caused nothing but trouble and they enjoy the suffering of mortals. Throughout the years, these stories (or myths) have been about terrifying encounters of demons, by believers and non-believers.

New Jersey even has its own mythical demon and it has been “living” in the state since the 1700s.

It is said to feed on the blood of sheep and other small animals. It is called the Jersey Devil and the description of the creature is like a nightmare come to life. It has the head of a goat, the wings of a bat, and a tail. It is said to be the son of the devil and a witch. This creature has to be the most unholy thing to be born into the world. It is also has to be pretty old if it was born in 1735 and it is still alive today.

Just like all of the mysterious creatures in the world, there has not been that much evidence of its existence; except sightings that have not been fully confirmed. People have said that various live stock were killed by a mysterious creature and animal corpses were spotted that looked like the Jersey Devil.

If the corpses were the Jersey Devil, then the creature could have been reproducing and there are more of them in the state of New Jersey. There could be hundreds of Jersey Devils for all we know. People still say it is a hoax, but you can never be too sure with what is real or not in the world. The world is a big place and it still has secrets we have not yet uncovered.
