Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Announced a Week Early

The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s tradition has been, since the release of Iron Man in 2008, to release at least one movie per year with the first movie of that year slated for a release on the first Friday of May.

This year, Marvel not only broke that trend with giving us “Black Panther” in February, but with releasing “Avengers: Infinity War” on April 27! The highly anticipated third installment of the “Avengers” movie series was originally slated for release on May 4, 2018. Marvel Studios decided to give it to us a week early, and here is why.

On Twitter, when Marvel Studios was building up hype for the new movie, Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man/Tony Stark actor) replied, “Any chance I could see it earlier?” Marvel Studios tweeted back, “Anything for you, Mr. Stark! How’s April 27?” Our clever Tony Stark then asked, “The entire world?”, to which they said, “That’s a FANTASTIC idea! Done. Avengers: #InfinityWar in theaters everywhere April 27.” It seems like being Tony Stark gives you the power to convince a billion-dollar movie industry to release their biggest movie yet one week early with just a tweet.

This was a smart move by the Disney-owned studio, as FOX will be releasing their Deadpool 2 on May 18 and Disney’s Solo: A Star Wars Story will come out on May 25.

Avengers: Infinity War will have more time to dominate the box office and will minimize competition with these blockbusters.
