Hawthorne the Setting For New “Home Alone” Film?
March 31, 2020
Acclaimed director, Christopher Columbus, 61, responsible for directing some of the funniest films of our lifetime including Home Alone (1990), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and Pixels (2005) has set his sights on our very own hometown of Hawthorne, for his next feature film.
“I directed the first Home Alone in 1990,” said Columbus, “and it’s sequel in 1992…I sat out the next set of Home Alone films…but now, 30 years later I want to head back to the world of Home Alone and see what Kevin McCallister and his OWN family would be up too.”
Set 30 years on, the newest Home Alone feature, tentatively titled “Home Alone Last Blood: Hawthorne” would feature a now grown Kevin and his own family…and, through circumstances involving a trip to the Hawthorne Pool, burglars, and a child left “home alone”, mayhem would ensue once again.
“After advanced film scouting on several small towns in New Jersey,” added Columbus, “Hawthorne was it for me. It pretty much has everything we need for our film…roads, houses, burglars.”
Macaulay Culkin is set to star as Kevin once again, with cameo appearances by Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern and Catherine O’Hara.
