Pixar’s Soul is Coming to Disney +
October 27, 2020
Pixar’s 23rd feature length film, Soul, will forgo a typical theatrical release in favor of a Disney+ release. Soul which stars Jamie Foxx as Joe Gardner, a middle school band teacher who after one misstep arrives at “The Great Before,” a place where souls develop their personality and quirks before being sent off to Earth. Joe teams up with a character by the name of 22, voiced by the lovable Tina Fey, to return his soul back to Earth. The movie which originally had a theatrical release date of June 19th, has faced numerous delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, Disney’s Mulan also went for a theatrical release and was put onto Disney+ for an additional $29.99 price tag. Fortunately for movie goers, Soul will not come with any additional costs and will be available to all 60.5 million Disney+ users on Christmas Day. This is a very exciting release date as I’m sure many families will watch the movie altogether over holiday break. It’ll be interesting to see if Disney takes a similar approach for blockbusters like Black Widow which has also struggled to find a final release date.
