A Tribute To Eddie Van Halen

Anthony Puluse, Staff Writer

Eddie Van Halen, one of the greatest guitar players of all time, was born January 26, 1955 in Amsterdam Netherlands; sadly, he just died of throat cancer. He was an American songwriter, inventor, and producer. He is also a guitarist based on his musical career. In 1972, he co-founded a band called Van Halen with his brother Alex Van Halen as drummer, Mark Stone as bassist, and David Lee Roth as vocalist. When Eddie Van Halen was in a band as guitar player, in most of his guitar solos, he performs some cool special effects on his exclusive guitar pedals assorted on the stage floor in front of him.

When Eddie was little, he and his older brother Alex learned how to play piano.  He won gold medal at the annual piano competition held in Long Beach Community College. He was a great classical piano player, but he liked rock music much better.

He first started a band called The Broken Combs, playing live at Hamilton Elementary School during lunch break. Then in 1972,  the band named “Van Halen” was born.

Van Halen made these albums, Van Halen I (1978), Van Halen II (1979), Women And Children First (1980), Fair Warning (1981), Diver Down (1982), 1984 (1984), 5150 (1986), QU812 (1988), For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991) etc. He played live in for example, Right Here, Right Now (1993), Tokyo Dome Live In Concert (2015), Pasadena (1977), etc.

Eddie Van Halen was one of the famous guitar players of all time, so good that he ended up with a custom Frankenstrat guitar for display at the Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. Sadly, he died of throat cancer on October 6, 2020.
