Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are Coming This Year!
March 22, 2021
February 27th, now known as National Pokemon Day, was the franchise’s 25th anniversary. In 25 years fans have gotten to grow up alongside 893 unique creatures which have starred in dozens of games, movies, and trading cards. To celebrate such a momentous occasion Pokemon Company hosted a live stream announcing the newest titles. The livestream kicked off with footage of the sequel to the classic Nintendo 64 game, Pokemon Snap. This game had been previously announced but, fans were very excited to see what the game will actually play like. The first true announcements were that of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The pair of games are complete remakes of the 2006 titles, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl which released for the DS. The remakes will release for the Switch at the end of this year with enhanced graphics and online play. Immediately afterwards Pokemon Legends: Arceus was announced which is a brand new open world Pokemon game that’ll expand upon the story of Diamond and Pearl. While fans expressed mixed opinions on Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl; all fans both new and old are ecstatic for the new spin on the classic Pokemon formula when Pokemon Legends: Arceus releases in 2022. Pokemon continued the celebration with a collaborative music video with artist Post Malone who covered Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Only Wanna Be With You” while an animated version of himself rode on the back of a Pokemon. Brands like McDonald’s and Levi’s also joined in on the festivities so needless to say it is a very exciting time to be a Pokemon fan.
