2022 is a big year for some very exciting movies and some of the movies have already begun to live up to the hype.

One of them being “Uncharted”. The movie includes one of the most popular actors recently, Tom Holland. Starring alongside him is Mark Wahlberg. The movie is based on a Playstation game about a treasure hunter going on an adventure to unlock the secrets of hidden mysteries.

In the film version Nathan Drake, (Tom Holland) is recruited by Victor “Sully” Sullivan to help him find a lost treasure. Nathan is a history fanatic and a master at stealing things. Sully seeks his help because he thinks that Nathan knows something that he himself doesn’t know. The gold they seek starts off as a myth, but they learn that it is true and that there is a lost treasure somewhere.

However, they are not the only ones searching for the lost treasure.

Sully teaches Nate that no one can be trusted in this business. In the film it explains Nathan’s backstory and the treasure that he and Sully are going after. It provides just enough information for anyone that hasn’t played any of the video games. In fact, the film finds the perfect balance between a regular adventure movie and a movie devoted to references. Someone who hasn’t played “Uncharted” would have the same amount of enjoyment as someone who is a fan of the series.

One thing that the video game and movie share in common is that they are both filled to the brim with action. There is very little time in between action scenes that the audience can sit back from the edge of their seats and relax. Like all action movies there are multiple scenes in the movie where you question if that is even possible at all, but that is what everyone wants and definitely what directors are aiming for.

Crazy scenes and actors are what audiences see first in commercials and it’s what draws them into the theaters. That’s why I think Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg are the perfect duo for this type of movie. Tom Holland is one of the most popular young male actors in recent years. He already has all the previous action experience needed to play a young treasure hunter with a teenager’s sense of humor.

Mark Wahlberg is also the perfect person for the role of Victor Sullivan. A serious and straight to the point treasure hunter who has been in the business for a long time. It’s the perfect amount of serious and young humor that also adds a lot of laughs to the action packed movie.

I would classify this as a family movie, as long as the kids are old enough where they are used to hearing vulgar language. It is definitely a movie where people of most ages can laugh and watch in awe at crazy scenes and try and figure out the mysteries themselves, just like the characters in the movie are.
