Book Review: Reminders of Him

Book Review: Reminders of Him

Ashley K. Santana, Staff Writer

Reminders of Him was published on January 18, 2022. It is one of the many novels of Colleen Hoover. This book gets a lot of hype like every other Colleen Hoover novel: some people love it and some people hate it. This is why The Clarion is going to be reviewing it!

Reminders of Him focuses on the life of  Kenna Rowan who after serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter’s life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself.

The only person who hasn’t closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna’s daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna’s life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.

The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them: but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.

In terms of the book as a whole, Reminders of Him is a painful, crushing, heartbreaking, truthful and considerate narrative. Colleen Hoover is an instinctive and intuitive storyteller in my eyes, who knows how to convey the high emotions of her characters. There are an array of themes circulating around Reminders of Him, ranging from love, passion, indecision, judgement, forgiveness, blame, loyalty, care, grief, loss, the law, restitution, acceptance, protection, truth, courage and hope.

Overall Reminders of Him is a novel that every book lover or Colleen Hoover fan should read.Yes it is a little bit sad and heartbreaking, but it shows us how life really can be and that a lot of the things happening in your life are happening for a reason.
