The 80th Golden Globes
January 19, 2023
The 80th Golden Globes took place in Beverly Hills, California on January 10, 2022. The celebrities were absolutely stunning in their attire. Margot Robbie channeled her inner Barbie and wore an all pink gown from Chanel.
Jenna Ortega stepped out onto the red carpet in a tan garment that drew the eyes of so many from Gucci. Andrew Garfield was in a burnt orange suit from Zegna, the unique color was not only incredible on the star, but drew out the simple black dress shirt and tie paired with it.
The first ever Golden Globe took place on January 20, 1944 at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles. The first awards were presented in the form of scrolls. The next year, members of the Golden Globe association held a contest to find a design for the statuette that would represent the overall aims of the organization. Marina Cisternas, who was the president of the group from 1945 to 1946, presented the idea of a shiny globe on a cylindrical pedestal to represent the world.
The first ever gala was held alongside the Golden Globe presentation in 1945. It was hosted at the Beverly Hills Hotel. In 1951 the association divided the best film, actor, and actress nominees into categories; drama, musical, and comedy. Over the years the Golden Globes have had a variety of categories that today are no longer recognized. For example; best documentary, best nighttime theatre, and best audience participation show. Today the Golden Globes recognize achievements in 25 categories, 14 in motion pictures, and 11 in television.
