Fast and Furious 6 has been one of the most anticipated movies of 2013. Now that it is out, it’s clear that it is different compared to the previous versions of the movie. This one didn’t incorporate the underground racing theme as the previous versions did; all of the characters have separated and are living their own lives. This time around, Dominic Toretto, a main character played by Vin Diesel, and his crew had a mission to complete.
Luke Hobbs, played by Dwayne Johnson, is a cop who in past films rivaled with Toretto and his crew. He asks Toretto for help to find Owen Shaw and his crew, which have been causing destruction within multiple countries and are impossible to find. Hobbs knows he can’t catch Shaw without Toretto and the rest of the characters, but Toretto doesn’t see why they should help his rival.
To give you some background information, in Fast 5, Letty Ortiz, Toretto’s girlfriend, supposedly dies at the end of the movie. However, in Fast and Furious 6, viewers learn Ortiz is actually alive, but has lost her memory. Moreover, Hobbs has insight of where she could be and uses this information to get Toretto to side with him.
When Ortiz got in an accident in the previous movie, she checked herself into a hospital, and Shaw found her and knew she could be useful to him since she was a “clean slate” and had no memory; Ortiz doesn’t remember Toretto or being a part of his crew and has no idea why they are looking for her. Shaw uses Ortiz to go against Toretto and the rest of her old crew. However, in the back of her mind, Ortiz knows something isn’t right when she is ordered to kill Toretto and can’t do it. Toretto tries explaining to her that he is in love with her and that she used to be on his side; however, Ortiz doesn’t believe him and sets him up instead. This set up almost leaves Toretto dead.
Toward the end of the movie, Shaw tries getting Ortiz killed. However Toretto saves her, and she realizes that he actually does love her. Even though she doesn’t remember anything she decides to stay with Toretto and his crew because she realizes it was where she was supposed to be.
Overall, the movie was a great movie and was very suspenseful, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars because it was put together so well and the actors did an exceptional job. Fast and Furious 6 also has a surprise ending that will make any fan ready for Fast and Furious 7!
