Hover board, Self-Balancing Scooter, Hands Free Segway. This relatively new, multi named two wheeler has been gaining popularity. Celebrities like Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, and Wiz Khalifa have been seeing using it in their daily lives.

The board catches the attention of others because of its futuristic and sleek style, and there is a wide range of prices for these devices on the market. Companies like IO Hawk are selling them for about $1800. However, one can buy one of them for about $300 on Amazon. The fact of the matter is that all units are built by the same Chinese company, and American businesses are taking advantage by posting their logos and selling them for an inflated price.

These self-balancing scooters come in many different colors like black, white, red, blue, and gold. According to IOHawk’s website, they average around 22 pounds, go a maximum speed of 7 miles per hour, climb slopes no greater than 15 degrees, and can carry a maximum of 265 pounds. On a full charge, these electric hands free scooters can go 8 – 12 miles in 5 hours, and in 2 hours, your board will be all charged up ready for the next ride.

Where can you ride this device of the future? Well, these scooters can manage only slight bumps and work best on very smooth surfaces. It is not recommended to ride them on grass or on sand. Unfortunately, because of Segway rules already in place, these self-balancing scooters are technically illegal on public roads due to safety concerns. There is a little bit of a learning curve, but after about an hour of riding the board, one would be able to get the hang of it. Without a doubt, these self-balancing scooters will continue to gain popularity!
