March 13, 2019
If you have ever turned on Channel 7 at 7:00, you would see the well known game show, Jeopardy.
The show first aired in 1984 with Alex Trebek as the host. He has been the only host on the show for an astounding 34 years! On March 6, Trebek announced that he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. In the video, Trebek explained that the prognosis for pancreatic cancer is not encouraging, but he went on to say, “ I am going to fight this…and with the love and support from my family and friends and with the help of your prayers also, I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
Pancreatic cancer is one of the more aggressive cancers, especially if you don’t catch it early on. There are usually no symptoms in the early stages. Once it is found, it is treated with invasive, and aggressive treatment such as, nerve blocks, chemotherapy, and other forms of surgery to help treat it.
Many other celebrities have been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer such as Steve Jobs, Patrick Swayze, Michael Landon and many others.
The fight against this is never easy, and all of our hearts go out to Alex Trebek and his family.
