As you may know, the Earth has many problems such as pollution and global warming. These problems are caused by people, which means that you can help save the planet. Just one person can make a pretty big difference. Here are some of the best, most effective ways to save our planet.

  1. RECYCLE: This may sound like something you have heard over and over again, but recycling is very important. It reduces land waste, preserves natural resources, prevents pollution, and saves energy. By recycling paper and wood you can save trees and by recycling plastic you can reduce pollution. This is because when plastic is made hydrocarbons are released into the air, which is harmful for the planet.
  2. Get a reusable water bottle: About 60 million plastic water bottles end up in landfills. By using a reusable water bottle you can reduce that number while saving money. You can save over $200 a year just by using a reusable water bottle every day. You can save the Earth and money just by making this simple change.
  3. Save water: By simply shutting off water while brushing your teeth, you can save up to 200 gallons of water a month. Also if you choose to take a shower instead of a bath you can save up to 15 gallons of water. Taking shorter showers can also reduce the amount of water wasted.
  4. Carpool: Carpooling is a great option, especially for friends who are going to the same place at the same time. Not only is carpooling fun, but it can help save the earth. Instead of driving two cars, by using one, it cuts the amount of air pollution for that drive in half! It also saves money with increasing gas prices.
  5. Use reusable bags: Plastic bags given to you at places like grocery stores are everywhere and are polluting the Earth! An estimated 1 trillion plastic bags are used each year. You can help change this by using reusable bags whenever you go shopping. They are more durable and are very convenient.
