Global Warming: Why You Should Be Afraid

Since the beginning of time, man has always been held accountable for the corruption and pollution of the natural world. However, over the course of the last century, there have been drastic increases in the temperature levels of certain areas on Earth. Known as global warming, this crisis portrays the consequences of climate change as a result of the pollution caused by mankind.

Normally, when sunlight shines onto the Earth’s surface, energy is absorbed and radiates back into the atmosphere as heat. In the atmosphere, greenhouse gas molecules trap some of the heat, while the rest escapes into space. Although this greenhouse effect is what keeps the Earth’s climate sustainable, it has many negative effects on the Earth.

For instance, by releasing heat-trapping gases into the atmosphere on a daily basis, humans are changing worldwide weather patterns and are causing certain areas to experience irregular heat or cooling temperatures. This is why the glaciers are melting, cloud forests are dying, wildlife is suffering, and sea levels are constantly rising.

When referring to pollution, it is important to understand that different forms of contamination can occur. For example, we pollute the Earth when we drive vehicles, litter garbage, and do not recycle. Unfortunately, there will be serious consequences and long-term effects on our own health if we continue to disregard these issues. One of the greatest forms of pollution that is mainly destroying our planet is water pollution.

Instead of properly handling toxic wastes and garbage by burying them in the ground, mankind decided it would be a better idea to dump all our unwanted trash into the ocean just because it is more convenient. Meanwhile, innocent sea animals are become the victims of water pollution. Every year, thousands of sea turtles, fish, and whales either suffer or die after consuming plastic wastes. Scientists are warning us that if we fail to change our habits and acknowledge pollution as a serious issue, then we only have 12 years of life left on Earth.

In conclusion, it is extremely heartbreaking to comprehend how corrupt mankind really is. While we carelessly continue to pollute our suffering planet, hundreds of thousands of animals are undergoing the struggle to survive over the loss of their habitats or the consummation of dangerous objects. The Earth is crying for help, and we need to do our best to save it before it is too late.
