How to Stay Motivated During Virtual Learning

Johanna F., Staff Writer

During the duration of Covid-19, life has been difficult for a lot of people. Whether it’s working from home, virtual school, or having to adjust to staying home more, here are some tips to stay motivated and on top of your game.

  1. Make yourself a space you enjoy working in.

This is probably the most important one. A clean space is a happy space. If your area is crowded or messy, it will be harder to work it and make you feel unorganized. Quickly clean up your area and add some fun decor to it, such as plants or stickers, to make it more you.

     2. Listen to music you enjoy

Music is an easy motivator. If you love a song, play it while you work to work faster and more efficiently. Music that you like also makes you happier, which is good, mainly because a lot is up in the air.

     3. Reward yourself.

Online learning during a pandemic is difficult, and it is difficult to get used to it and stay motivated. Rewarding yourself for keeping up with your work and sticking to a schedule is a good thing to look forward to and ultimately makes you work harder.

       4. Talk to your friends!

Staying social is very important, especially when you are stuck at home. One thing you can do to stay social is to talk to your friends. I recommend making a group chat to text your friends between classes or have short video calls to talk a bit in between classes. Seeing your friends is one of the easiest ways to stay happy and motivated.

       5. Set small goals for yourself.

If you have a lot of work to do but don’t feel motivated, setting small goals for yourself is super important. Don’t make big and unrealistic work goals for yourself. Start with goals like completing your assignments for that particular day or to have a certain number of things done by a specific time. Start slow before going on bigger goals.

Hopefully, with time and following these tips, you will stay motivated for long periods!
