Big Change for the New Jaguar F-Type

Alex Barbarisi, Staff Writer

In a world where where all cars are are turning hybrid or electric, Jaguar has other plans for its sports car, the F-Type.

It isn’t uncommon when it is announced that a new car will be sold with an electric option, yet Jaguar took the complete opposite direction by announcing they will only be selling the 2022 models with a V8.

The new F-Type will be exactly the same as 2020 and 2021 model years with the discontinuation of the 4 and 6 cylinder options.  However, this change will affect the starting price of the F-Type as they will now be starting at $71,050.

Not only will the 2022 F-Type only be sold with a V8, but it will also only be sold with a supercharger.  Only two trims of the F-Type will be sold: the P450 models which is sold with a 5.0L supercharged V8 with 444 horsepower and the F-Type R with the same 5.0L  supercharged V8 but with 575 horsepower.

The F-Type R starts at $104,350.
