On the night of May 3, 2007 while out on holiday in Portugal, Gerry and Kate McCann went out to dinner near their vacation villa with some friends. As they went to check on their child in the middle of their outing they came to find that the window was open and their three year-old daughter Madeleine McCann was missing from her bed.

After this discovery, her parents and the rest of the people in the area began to search all over the place for her until sunrise. Police began investigating her disappearance, but the case has remained cold until this day.

Madeleine would be 18 years old today. It is still unknown whether she is only missing or has passed, but her parents refuse to give up on finding their child and they may have found a new lead. 

There has been recent news of a new suspect being found in the case of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. He is said to be a prisoner in Germany for drug offenses. The man has a long criminal record, including child sexual abuse, according to German authorities.

It is said by Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell that his office had received the information of this man in 2017 and continued to investigate him until they had enough evidence of him being involved in Madeleine’s disappearance. The chief also worked together with German officials to gather more information.

About a handful of investigators were on the case, down from the original 30 that were assigned to Operation Grande in 2011. The suspect’s name is Christian Brueckner and according to his lawyer, Friedrich Fulscher, who says that his client denied all accusations towards him.

In his criminal past he lost his appeal on rape conviction in November 2020 and broke his silence in the spring of 2021 claiming he is being unfairly persecuted. At this time Brueckner is not being charged for the McCann case. 

It is still a mystery to where Madeleine McCann is at this time. Whether she is alive or dead, she deserves justice and so does her family. Her parents state that they will never give up on looking for their daughter, no matter how hard the truth may be, they wish to seek justice for her and the pain that the disappearance has caused their whole family.

The McCann family, detectives and the rest of the world won’t stop until they find the truth.
