Everyone loves Thanksgiving and being with their families. But everyone has their own family traditions. Some people make up their own family traditions to carry on. But some families follow traditions from way back when Thanksgiving first started.
Breaking the wishbone is a tradition you do with someone where you both hold one side of the turkeybone. You both close your eyes and wish for something and then pull your side of the turkey bone. Whoever gets the bigger side of the turkey bone, then their wish comes true.
To have a thanksgiving meal is a tradition around the whole world if people celebrate. A Thanksgiving meal is when you have all sorts of food around the dinner table, surrounded by people you love. Thanksgiving meals usually have turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberry sauce, candy yams. After eating there is another tradition: sit back, relax…maybe even take a nap.
Another tradition is for each person to say one thing that they are thankful for. Either before or after you start eating, everyone goes around the table and says something that they are thankful for and why. When you’re alongside family or friends you can just bring up memories and just say that those are the things that you’re thankful.
In conclusion, all of these traditions are what makes Thanksgiving what it is. Thanksgiving isn’t just about food: it’s about being with family. So do that family tradition and have some fun…or better yet, start a new one!
