Hawthorne High School boys soccer team, along with HHS alum, are hosting a fundraiser for Jimmy Soder, a 2014 alumnus who was recently diagnosed with leukemia, on January 2, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. at the Superdome in Waldwick. At this event, the 2014-season varsity soccer players will face the Hawthorne alum male soccer players. Admission is $5.00.
Senior captain, Jake Grootenboer, commented on the event saying, “The boys soccer program wanted to raise money for Jimmy where we knew he could be a part of it as well. Although we’ll be playing some of the best players Hawthorne has seen over the past few years, I’m sure this year’s team will come out on top.”
2013 senior captain, Jason McKeown, commented on the event saying, “This fundraiser is so special to me because one of my teammates who I looked at as a brother was diagnosed with cancer. The 2014 guys are pretty good, but the alumni are even better. Whether it’s a win or a loss, it’s a good time to see everyone come together for one of our brothers.”
So come and ring in the New Year with a night of friendly competition for a great cause on January 2, 2015 at the Superdome at 134 Hopper Ave, Waldwick.
