Paint Center Now Open

Mahin Rahman, Staff Writer

The media center now has an official paint center for anyone who enjoys painting. The Clarion decided to interview Mrs. DiGeronimo, Media Specialist extraordinaire, about how she feels about this new HHS library venture.

Clarion: What made you decide that there should be a paint center?

Mrs. DiGeronimo: Last year, I offered a Library Lunchtime Workshop for painting library ceiling tiles. So many students came and told me that they wished there were more opportunities to paint for fun. So… now they have that opportunity every day.

Clarion: Did the school help fund the paint center?

Mrs. DiGeronimo: I applied to the Hawthorne Education Foundation (HEF) for a grant to fund the purchase of painting supplies and they generously gave me the money!

Clarion: Will there be any painting workshops?

Mrs. DiGeronimo: There will be a number of workshops to introduce certain techniques, such as the one we already had using fluid acrylics to make abstract design. I plan to introduce silk screening and also image transfer in the near future. But… the Paint Center is open to all students every day to do independent work on anything they like.

Clarion: Are students allowed to use the paint center at any time?

Mrs. DiGeronimo: Yes, see above

Clarion: Did any students paint anything in the paint center.

Mrs. DiGeronimo: Yes, see above

Clarion: What would you say to anyone who is interested in painting but has no idea but the paint center.

Mrs. DiGeronimo: Come visit the Paint Center in the Library Makerspace!
