HHS Media Center: March

Arijana Sulejmani, Staff Writer

This month the media center has many new attractions.

The main highlights of the month of March is Irish Heritage month, Women’s History month, and March Madness.

There is a main display on the main door of the library. This display includes books that are related to the topics of the month. On the door there are books like biographies for women that made a special mark on the world. These enticing reads include “Shoot Like a Girl” by Mary Jennings Hegar, “Reading Lolita In Tehran” by Azar Nafisi and so many more. Go in and choose one today!

Other books include all Irish traditions and things that can be celebrated for Irish people in the month of March. There are books on Irish cooking, classic literature like the “Dubliners” by James Joyce, or even a book on Celtic Mythology.

Some other features that were pretty interesting to some students was Booktok. Booktok has the HHS  library featuring books that are inspired or seen on TikTok. If you walk into the media center you will see a poster towards the front desk that shows the books that are involved. Which books you may ask?? How about the adventure/fiction “They Both Die at the End”, or the science fiction of “The Maze Runner” or the young adult fiction of “Speak”. Come to the library to check it all out.

Going forward there are many books that are in the March Madness contest. Students are free to sign up for March Madness. Each week books are voted on, and eventually there will be one winner in each of the categories: “Booktok” Favorites, Teacher Recommendations, Banned Classics and Biography/Memoir. Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Overall there are many events that seem to be taking place this month. March is a very busy month for the media center.
