Bye Bye Vine! :(

We may have to say goodbye to a popular app called Vine.

Vine was created four years ago in June 2012, but in October of 2012, Twitter had bought it before its initial release. This delayed its official release until January 2013. It allowed users to share six-second looping video clips, which were uploaded through the social network. These videos were then able to be shared with Facebook and Twitter. You were able to view videos that were posted by other users. These videos were grouped by theme, trendiness, and popularity. Vine had to compete with other social media apps such as Instagram and Mobli.

The app had about two-hundred million active users. Throughout the years, Vine had created popular users such as King Bach, Cameron Dallas, Lele Pons, and Brittany Furlan. Also, various celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Josh Peck, Harry Styles, Shawn Mendes, and Ariana Grande had all used and made Vines. Rapper Bobby Shmurda had received a record deal because he posted a Vine clip that gained more than 3.3 million views. His Vine clip was imitated by Kevin Durant and Beyoncé.

Then on October 27, Twitter had announced to the world that they will be discontinuing or shutting the app down.

Vine stated that users of the app would be notified when any changes to the app are made. Twitter also stated that Vine will be still available for users to view and download their older videos.

However, users will no longer be able to post videos.
