When you think about Hawthorne, one of the first things that comes to mind is Bogie’s Hoagies sub shop.

Bogie’s Hoagies is known for their large hoagies, deli sandwiches, and home style dishes, which is located on Lafayette Avenue in the center of town.  Bogie’s was recently nominated for best sub shop in New Jersey by Peter Genovese. In the article, Genovese stated, “This isn’t about who’s best known or receives the most love on Facebook or likes on Yelp, this is about who ended up the best when the bright lights were on.”

Originally, over 350 sub shops were nominated for the prize. 40 semifinalists were announced and visited over a two-week period.  Peter Genovese then went 1,962 miles in his car to look for the best subs in the state.  After 40 shops and 80 subs, he picked his top ten favorites, and Bogie’s was one!
