New Jersey: Coronavirus
November 2, 2020
As cases rise around the US, the New Jersey quarantine list now has 41 states on it. While having 41 states on the list, there are four states exempt from that list. which are New York, Connecticut, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. NY, CT, and NJ have a joint advisory they put out back in June, which allows unrestricted travel between the three states.
As it begins to get colder in New Jersey, cases have been rising rapidly. The state now qualifies for its own joint travel advisory as of last week as it averages around 1,250 cases per day. This would mean the state is above 10 cases per 100,000 people, which is a statistic that will put states on the quarantine list if they exceed that amount.
With the rise in cases, cities like Newark have brought back rules similar to the lockdown we had last March-May. All nonessential businesses must be closed by 8pm, including restaurants, but they can continue outdoor dining until 11pm. Salons and barbershops are now only operating by appointment, and gyms have to clean their equipment for 30 minutes every hour.
This is only the beginning of the rise in cases. Similar rules are expected to be put into place as the weather gets colder and the cases get higher.
