A Typical Thanksgiving

A+Typical+Thanksgiving

A typical American Thanksgiving can look different to everybody. Whether you play or watch football, attend the Macy’s Day Parade or even do nothing at all, the day is filled with lots of loving family fun! When most think of Thanksgiving they think of turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie and many filling foods for the evening. If you’re stumped on what to do, here’s a list of some ideas to make your Thanksgiving memorable!

  • Put together a football game with friends and family! All you need is 2 even teams, a football and a playground.
  • Watch NFL football on live television. On Thanksgiving 3 games take place, the first game is at 12:30 pm Packers vs. Lions, the second game is at 4:30 pm Commanders vs. Cowboys, and finally the last game is at 8:20 pm 49ers vs. Seahawks. (All these games are timed for EST).
  • Watch the Macy’s Day Parade which takes place in NYC with tons of floats, marching bands and special guests! Usually this fun event is aired on NBC, or you can go see the flying balloons in person in NYC on 77th street and Central Park West. This parade starts at 9 am and ends at 12 pm.
  • If you plan on having a gathering the best time to start is 3 pm, if there are intentions on dinner. This gives perfect time for catching up with family and friends while preparing the meal. Most meals consist of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, and pumpkin pie. Everybody is different, but it is also best to have food ideas prepped and planned ahead of time, most likely more than 1 week in advance.
  • If you plan on staying home and being cozy on Thanksgiving, there are other great movies to watch as well. Some fan favorites include, March of the Wooden Soldiers, A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, An Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving, and The Blind Side. Some of these movies are just simply for the vibe of Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is celebrated in many different ways with tons of different foods and fun ideas. Though all that is thought of is family and friends, these ideas can help expand your day! Happy Thanksgiving!
