Recently in Hawthorne, New Jersey, there have been many new things happening all around.
With September coming to a close, we are welcoming in October. In stores there are already Halloween decorations and in our beloved town, many people are already setting up their own decorations.
As September is ending, Hawthorne hosts a fun event to welcome the autumn weather known as Hawthorne Day. The 15th annual Hawthorne Day will be held Saturday, September 28 from 12pm-8pm. Admission is free and it is hosted at the Hawthorne Municipal Pool Grounds. This year there are going to be various different events and activities.
For starters there will be fireworks, live music, entertainment, craft lines, vendors, foods, and many children’s activities. The Hawthorne High school cheerleaders and Marching Band will also be making an appearance during the morning. Overall, rain or shine this event will still be taking place!
The Annual Fishing Derby was recently held. Kids of all ages from around the town participated. Prizes were awarded for many different reasons, from how heavy the fish was to how long the fish was. After the fish are caught, they are also released to go back into the pond. Over the years, many more kids have participated in the Derby which is something the town loves to see!
Celebrate with Hawthorne as we unveil our community garden! The event will be held on Sunday, October 6 at 3 pm. Everyone is welcome to come. It will be held at the Ambulance Corp Building/9-11 Memorial at 970 Goffle Road.
