With September coming to an end, we now enter into a brand new month, October. A month that is rather more “cooler” in terms of its weather/climate and is most known for the holiday Halloween, that represents a theme of horror.
To begin this month, the Fall Block Party is hosted by the student council and takes place on Wednesday, October 1. It starts at 6:30 PM and finishes around 9:00 – 9:30 PM. This event involves a lot of cool and fun stuff to do, which includes music, games, food trucks, as well as the winners of the homecoming court will be announced during the event which will be very exciting and fascinating.
On October 1, 2 and 3, the Senior Portraits will take place. During these days, seniors will dress in their appropriate attire for their portraits to be taken. Men will wear a shirt, tie and a suit jacket. For women, they will wear a black drape/shawl.
On October 4 (a Saturday), the SATs will be given to anyone who registered and signed up. On October 7, there will be PSATs for the underclassmen who will be required to take them in order to receive their scores, so that they could take the SATs at some point. The PSATs will given during the school day.
Next up, something very exciting and fun is right around the corner which is Spirit Week. On Monday, October 6, it is Jersey vs. Jersey Shore. All students and staff will wear either a sports jersey or dress like the cast of Jersey Shore. On Tuesday, October 7, it is a Decade Day where Seniors are Y2k, Juniors are the 90s, Sophomores are the 80s, Freshmen are the 70s and the Staff will choose to wear whatever they want.
On Wednesday, October 8, it is Adam Sandler Day. All students and staff will dress like Adam Sandler on this day. On Thursday, October 9, it is color wars. All students and staff will be and are assigned a color of clothing that will be worn on this day. Seniors will wear black, Juniors will wear pink, Sophomores will wear green, Freshmen will wear purple and the Staff will wear NEON on this day.
Finally, on Friday, October 10, it is a blue and white day. All students and staff will show their support by wearing blue and white. The Homecoming Game is on this night as well. The tailgate starts at 4:00 PM and it finishes until 6:00 PM. The football game and ceremony will both start at 6:00 PM. This is also the Bears 3rd home game and will take on and play against the Saddle Brook Falcons. They are looking forward to getting a win on this special occasion day.
On October 9, the Hallway Decorating will take place. Yes, it is a lot of work…but it is a lot of fun too!
On October 13, school will be closed for all students…staff is having a PD day.
On October 15, the 8th Grade Open House will take place for all students who are in 6th – 8th grades. All high school students (mainly seniors) are encouraged to come by and be a tour guide for the event.
The Marching Band will host their pasta dinner on October 23. It will start at 5:00 PM and finish until 8:00 PM. This is a fun and motivating time to not just eat, but also to spend time with your teammates and coaches before the football game on October 24. All football players are also invited and encouraged to attend this event.
Hispanic Heritage Celebration will take place on October 24. This is one of the more exciting and wonderful events that occurs in the month of October. All students and staff are encouraged and invited to participate in this celebration.
The Class of 2027 will have their pancake breakfast in the main cafeteria of the high school on Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. All friends and family are invited and welcome to attend this nice and amazing breakfast time with the Class of 2027. Admission costs $5, so make sure and don’t forget to bring your money for this.
