The Hawthorne High School softball team put together an impressive season, finishing with a strong 15–8 record. Throughout the year, the Bears displayed determination, teamwork, and talent while competing against a challenging schedule. With each game, the team continued to improve and proved themselves as one of the toughest competitors in the area.
One of the biggest highlights of the season came during the state tournament, where the Bears earned a dominant 8–0 victory over Cresskill. The team’s success was fueled by strong pitching, timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and solid defensive play. Although Hawthorne is a smaller school, the softball program made a strong statement this season by showing the depth of talent and dedication within HHS athletics.
Throughout the season, players demonstrated leadership and commitment both on and off the field. Younger athletes, including several freshmen, were given valuable opportunities to gain experience at the varsity level. Freshman player Kellyanne R. reflected on the season by saying, “This season has taught me many new skills and game IQ that I will use in future softball games. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of the varsity team because it gave me valuable exposure and experience. The coaching staff worked hard to support both the starting players and the younger athletes learning the game. The energy was always positive, which created a great environment for improvement.”
The coaching staff played a major role in helping the team grow and compete at a high level throughout the season. Finishing with 15 wins is a major accomplishment and reflects the hard work, positive atmosphere, and dedication shown by the players and coaches all year long. The future looks bright for Hawthorne softball as the team looks ahead to next season.
