The Hawthorne High School Italian classes went on a field trip to Little Italy in New York City.
The HHS Italian Classes went on a Little Italy Cultural Tasting Tour along with three chaperones: John DiLonardo, Joe Letterese, and Marisa Margarucci.
The classes went to different shops and sampled Italian food. According to Littleitalynyc.com, Little Italy, home to the San Gennaro Feast, is full of narrow, cobblestone streets with fire escapes everywhere. There are also many restaurants in Little Italy.
“It was fun because you don’t always get to hear about the culture of that area,” Margarucci stated.
When senior Ashley Pierro was asked about the trip, she responded, “I’ve never been there before; it was informational yet fun.”
Mark Neri, another senior, stated, “It was exciting! I learned a lot about Italian culture because of the trip to Little Italy.”
