Guidance counselors of Hawthorne High School met with juniors in the school Media Center in January to explain how to use Naviance accounts.
Michael Gallucio, guidance counselor at Hawthorne High School, said, “We met with all junior classes to explain how to use their Naviance accounts and how to update their game plans.”
Naviance is a career/college database that was introduced to Hawthorne High School last year. It helps students by showing them college requirements and deadlines, and it holds each student’s information, including GPA, SAT or ACT scores, and extracurricular activities.
Patrick Furrey, junior at Hawthorne High School, said, “It was useful; I learned another way to attack the college admissions process.”
“Our goal,” said Gallucio, “is by the time the current ninth grade students become juniors they will already be familiar with the process.”
