The Media Arts One students are working on their last marking period project. They have to make wrapping paper design using a letter or number of their choosing. The paper is due on March 30, 2012.
When students begin the project, under the supervision of teacher John DiLonardo, they have to choose a letter or number and use Adobe Illustrator (a vector based program) to create the wrapping paper design. To do this, they create a design that illustrates the chosen letter or number and then take their own picture of that symbol and put it on the paper, repeating the simple pattern over and over. (This is easy unless you have a letter like Z, but you get to choose your letter so it is unlikely that someone will choose Z.)
The students are enjoying this project. Jess Trojanowski said, “I like this project because it is fun to play around with symbols and be creative.” All in all, the entire Wrapping Paper Project is fun and educational for students studying design and technology.
