Seniors Rule Spirit Week at HHS

Silly hats, sport jerseys, blue-and-white, and school spirit put the senior class out front to clench the top spot at the end of Spirit Week, October 22 to 26, 2012.

Student participation in daily activities showed that HHS students are filled with spirit. The week began with Patriotic Day on Monday which filled the hallways with red-white-and-blue colors. On Tuesday, an entertaining variety of hats enlivened every classroom. On Wednesday, students showed their sport colors by wearing favorite team jerseys.  Thursday brought class unity with freshman wearing yellow, sophomores wearing green, juniors wearing red, seniors wearing black, and faculty wearing pink. On the final day of Spirit Week, all students joined together wearing their Hawthorne blue-and-white.

Friday concluded Spirit Week with a hall decorating contest. The sophomore class came in fourth place with its jungle theme. The freshman class drew third place with its Hollywood theme. Seniors landed in second place with a tornado thud from the Wizard of Oz. And juniors grabbed first place with their imaginative Wild West theme.

Adding up the number of Spirit Week participants gave the senior class the highest count and the first place bragging rights.

Spirit Week ended on Friday evening with the Homecoming football game with a win against Glen Rock.
