Hawthorne High School’s Student Council will be holding a blood drive in Room 120 on March 21, 2013, throughout the school day.
According to Danielle Russo, who is an art teacher and student activity advisor at HHS, the event is open only to people 16 years and older who sign up for it in advance. Students are then given a time slot to report to room 120 on the day of the blood drive.
According to Russo, the Student Council is working with Community Blood Services. In order to prepare eligible students for the upcoming drive, a speaker from Community Blood Services was at HHS on Monday, March 11, 2013, to tell those students about the blood drive and answer any questions they may have. Throughout the week of March 11, students were able to sign up for the drive in Russo’s room, Room 121.
The blood drive, which had been done in years past, was brought back last year. “It was a great success the previous year…” said Russo. “We’re expecting around 100 or so participants this year.” The Student Council asks for students and teachers to all take part in this event. With the help of students and teachers, Russo expects this year to be just as good as last year’s drive.
