The Hawthorne Bears Marching Band won 1st place in its division and the Best Music Caption award at the Music in the Park XVI Competition on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Ramapo High School. This competition is an independently judged competition, sponsored by the Midland Park High School Band Program. Band divisions are grouped according to the total number of students involved in the marching band. Hawthorne, the smallest band in Division B, outscored Kearny, Ramapo, and Lakeland Regional High Schools.
The band will be performing in the North Jersey Band Festival on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Montclair State University. Tickets can be purchased for $8 by contacting band director Robert Dubois at (973) 423-6441.
